Michele Ciavotta
Associate Professor
I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science, Systems, and Communication (DISCo) at the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy. I earned my Ph.D. in Computer Science and Automation from the University of Roma Tre, Italy, in 2008, and I have since worked in various national and international academic settings.
My primary research interests revolve around the application of Artificial Intelligence and Optimization techniques and models to complex systems. In particular, I have focused on Reinforcement Learning, Graph Neural Networks, and Metaheuristics, applied to distributed computing systems (Cloud, Edge, Big Data engines) and physical systems (Smart Mobility, and Flowshop-type production lines).
In addition to my expertise in AI, I have a significant background in optimization. I have been involved in numerous technology transfer and R&D projects, both at the European and national levels, and have published over 50 articles on topics related to Neural Networks, Cloud Computing, Optimization, services, and Industry 4.0.
